Meet Chief (Dr.) Gbenga Obilade

Beyond academic excellence, Chief (Dr.) Obilade’s philanthropic spirit led to the establishment of the Gbenga Obilade’s Foundation, an organisation dedicated to empowering the underprivileged. Through education, healthcare, and community-based initiatives, the foundation creates opportunities for self-reliance and growth, particularly impacting the youth in Egbeda and Ona-Ara, Ibadan.

What prompted you to start the foundation?
The Gbenga Obilade’s Foundation (GOF) was founded out of a deep personal commitment to service and a firsthand understanding of the challenges faced by individuals in underserved communities. My journey has been shaped by my experiences growing up, witnessing the struggles of families striving for a better life, and later seeing how access to the right support – whether financial, educational, or social – can make all the difference.

One particular story that stands out is the memory of individuals in my hometown who had potential but lacked opportunities. I saw bright young minds unable to pursue their dreams due to financial constraints and elderly individuals struggling with basic needs. These experiences ignited a passion in me to create a platform that provides practical solutions to these challenges. GOF is not just an organisation; it is a movement driven by empathy, real-life experiences, and the belief that small acts of kindness can transform lives.
